About Us

The Lions Club of Orangeville was chartered on the 12th day of April, 1949 with a membership of 21. From the outset, it established itself in the Community by working as a team of energetic, civic minded men to provide much needed facilities and to lend a helping hand where needed. On the 8th day of May, 1953, the Club incorporated and took out letters patent.

Today the Club boosts a membership of at least 70 – which includes life members, and maintains the same drive and spirit generated at the time it was chartered.

The objectives of the club are:

  1. To promote the theory and practice of the principal of good government and and good citizenship.
  2. To take an active interest in the civic, commercial, social, moral and child welfare of the community.
  3. To unit the members in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding.
  4. To provide a forum for the full and free discussion of all matters of public interest, partisan politics and sectarian matters alone excepted.
  5. To encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in business and professions provided that the club does not hold out as one of its objectives, financial benefits to its members either active or honourary.
