Joint Lions - Rotary Meeting

On Thursday April 28, 2005 the Orangeville Lions Club hosted a joint meeting of the Rotary Club of Orangeville, the Rotary Club of Orangeville Highlands and the Walkerton Lions Club.

The meeting took place at the Orangeville Seniors Centre and in excess of 110 members from the four clubs attended.  The Orangeville Legion Women's Auxiliary catered the meeting and a delicious roast beef dinner was served.

The meeting came about as the result of the efforts of Lion Gerry Lindsay.  Gerry remembered annual joint meeting 10-12 years ago.  As he remembered these fondly and has many mutual Rotarian friends he decided to see if it could be revived.  The purpose was simple, provide a forum to present the activities and accomplishments of the clubs and to enjoy the fellowship of like-minded, service oriented community members.

As an added bonus the baseball legend and "Canadian Baseball Ambassador" Jim Fanning spoke to the audience about his lifelong experience in professional baseball.

Given the success of this joint meeting it seem likely it will again become an annual event!
